Updates from the team |
||
Hello residents, This is to give you a quick update on the teams actions with how we are tackling ASB and Drug use in West Ealing W13. Many residents have been reporting their concerns on the increase and blatant drug use occurring frequently in West Ealing, we have had many residents that have sent us photos of substance users and drug dealers, we have also had reports created with various times and locations where this is occurring, this has helped us with our targeted patrols. This has been with the help of our residents providing us with this information. THANK YOU!
Our current approach is to issue CPW’s (Community Protection Warning’s) to drug users, street drinkers and any other person causing ASB in these hotspot areas. This is usually the method we take if there is no immediate action required on scene. For example, searching someone and not finding drugs, our next action is to issue a CPW warning them of their behaviour that is causing a detrimental impact to the community and its residents. If their behaviour continues within a certain time period, we will then issue a CPN (Community Protection Notice). When a person is issued a CPN, there will be certain conditions listed and if breached they can be arrested for breaching their CPN. This also includes an exclusion zone that covers most of the ward.
We are also liaising with partnering agencies like RISE and Ealing council to help us with this issue, we make referrals to RISE of any substance users and advise to seek help and encouraging them to get the support they need. The council are helping us with persistent offenders by gathering evidence to then apply for civil injunctions via court. They are already in the process of obtaining 2 for persistent offenders causing issues on our ward. Since 1st of August 2025 the team have issued 28 CPW’s and 2 CPNS. Arrests A community resolution is what suspects can get issued if they have no previous records for an offence of similar nature, once they receive this the next step will be a fine or arrest. | ||
